3-Day Weekend!

Happy Memorial Day weekend y'all!
This week seemed to drag by but it's definitely been the opposite for the weekend so far! Yesterday we woke up early to go yard-sale'in with some family. Boy did we find some bargains! Check 'em out in the photo..

The houndstooth ottoman we found had a $25 sticker on it and we got it for $15 only to discover the original store tag on it for $49.99! Talk about steal!! The brand new fishing rods we got for $2 a piece. The faux tree was $5 and as you know, they're anywhere from $50-$180.00 usually in stores, another steal! The two cubbies with the zebra print pull out cubes we got for $10 and the movie rack was $3. We had a ball! My favorite though has got to be the bench. It's hard to see in the photo but this bench was a steal, too! It's solid wood, extremely sturdy and is long enough for 3 adults to sit on it comfortably. The color is a dark cherry and we got it for $30.. amazing!!

The rest of the day was spent at our parents house by the pool. Laekyn learned how to swim when she was 4 and is such a waterbug! I used to call her my tadpole, she absolutely loves the water! I have a photoshoot this morning and then the rest of the day we'll be attending two different pool parties! It's going to be a fun sun-filled day with family and friends by the pool! We're off work tomorrow (as most everyone is) and we hope that you have a wonderful Memorial Day while taking time to remember the true meaning of it! Happy Sunday! -Hollie

Quick recap!

So here we are already at Tuesday. It doesn't seem like a week has almost passed since the last post but as we all know - the older you get, the faster time flies. This past weekend was incredibly busy. Two photo sessions scheduled along with a birthday party to attend which doesn't seem like much but when you include the fact the majority of the weekend was spent an hour away from home, it puts it more into perspective. Along with being a mommy, I'm still trying to make time to do some school here and there. Thank goodness for electronics & apps though! If it wasn't for my phone, I wouldn't be able to post as I am now. I would put it off until this evening which even then it more than likely wouldn't get done. No run today, yesterday's run was awesome (more than the usual) because on the course, they had the sprinklers going.. to say refreshing during a run would be a HUGE understatement! Don't forget to review my photography page for sneak peeks. I have a blog on my photography website that you should check out, too! The link's on the FB page. Well, lunch is over and I must get back to work but I hope you're having a great day! Later alligators :) -Hollie

Happy Wednesday!

Can we all agree that this week has dragged! Thank goodness it's Wednesday and the weekend is within reach. This week Kasey and I have been busy with work and I've been focusing some time on school as well as the A-Z photo project I'm doing. I've gotten some great shots so far that I'm pretty excited about! Tomorrow, I've got a hair appointment. I can't believe it's already time to get a trim, seems like just yesterday when I got it cut! No complaints from me though. Laekyn and I are also going to get mani's this week which I'm also pretty excited about. I just love those mommy/daughter times with her when we can be prissy and pamper ourselves. Today, she had a field trip and had a blast. I didn't go on this one, her daddy did but I'm looking forward to the one in a couple weeks that I'm going on! I'll definitely be posting some photos. As I'm typing this, I'm watching Idol.. I just have to say, of the three left, I'm rootin' for Phillip Phillips. I'm not sure if you remember or not but he was one of my top picks in the beginning. This weekend is going to be pretty busy but we'll do our best to find time to blog about it! Guess that's all for now, have a great rest of the week (if we don't blog before then)! ;) -Hollie

NYIP

I'm excited to tell you what has been taking up so much of my time.. I have decided to expand my love for photography into more than just a passion. I'm now a student at the New York Institute of Photography for Professional Photography. I am loving it so far and have already learned so much.

Along with going back to school, I've started focusing on my business Impress Me Photography again and really making it a priority. I started it back in 2010 but didn't put very much effort or time into it. Within 2 days of making the Facebook page and website active again, I had inquiries about 4 different weddings. It was very overwhelming at first but I knew that if I was serious about this then I had to step out of my comfort zone and I said yes! I look forward to working with the couples, for sure! My website has a blog on it where I'll update all things photography related on there. You can get to my website by clicking here - be sure to check it out and stay up to date on what's going on and any projects I'm doing.

I look forward to seeing how this is going to further my knowledge and see what the Lord has planned. There isn't anything more rewarding and exciting than doing what you love and love what you're doing! -Hollie

Phew!

It sure has been awhile. My wisdom teeth are finally all in and free of pain, thank the Lord!! However, that wasn't the end of the issues. Last weekend I had a horrible sore throat but only on one side. It was almost impossible to swallow and I'm one of those who prefers to not go to a doctor unless I just absolute have to. Well, I was sitting in the doctor's office that same morning waiting to be seen. Little did I know, my strep test was going to be positive. Despite only one side hurting, both sides were swollen and as the doctor said "that's the ugliest I've ever seen" - it was bad! Laekyn had broken out in a rash so they tested her for strep and said that sometimes kids will get a rash before strep. Her test was negative and the doctor wasn't concerned by the rash. It seemed to be more of a heat rash and after some Benedryl, it went away. Hoping it doesn't come back! After days and days of taking the horse pill of Amoxicillin, my throat seems to be much better, thankfully. Hope each of you and your families are staying healthy, seems like a lot is going around. -Hollie
