Rhyming time......:)

I know I haven't blogged all that much, but it doesn't mean that I lost touch. I work all day and when my time is free. I love to spend it with my girls who mean the world to me. My beautiful Hollie has been picking up my slack, but don't worry bloggers because I will be back. If I don't post everyday it doesn't mean that I am late, it just says that I am busy loving my soulmate. so if it takes me a while to write, don't believe that I am gone. I am just in my baby's arms which is right where I belong. So I will surely post again in a little while. But Hollie please know, you are the reason I smile.
I love you Hollie, I try to tell you all the time. I love you so much, that I am blogging in rhymes. So while thinking of the girl that makes me smile, a fun rhyming list I began to compile. Our life is so awesome, as we continue to grow, so enjoy the list that starts below.

'ello!

We realize it's been quite some time since we've blogged but we're determined to change that and become more regular with it. It's so crazy how hectic things can get sometimes. Hollie fought a migraine for 3 almost 4 days last week and is now dealing with the constant throbbing pain of her wisdom teeth coming in. She just can't catch a break (granted, she's thankful because it could always be worse)! The March for Babies walk was last weekend and there will soon be a blog about it but other than that, we've just been busy with work. We hope you're having a great day and that your week is going well so far. More blogs are coming soon!

Dirt, flowers and sweat!

I have been waiting all evening to sit down and type up this post. I'm so excited for you to see the before and after pictures from our first home improvement project of the season.. the flowerbed! As we ventured out trying to find the flowers/supplies for our project, we realized what all we really needed. The flowerbed was in horrible shape and we were basically giving it a complete reconstruction instead of just a face lift. Our first stop was Walmart. Yes, because I love that place just way too much. We weren't too thrilled at the flower selection so we just got our tools there and went across the street to Lowe's where we hit the jackpot, or so it felt like we did. We found the perfect amount of flowers in all the pretty colors that we wanted. We also got our soil and mulch from there, too! Then it was home to get the project underway. Our first step was to rid the current flowerbed of leaves, weeds, rocks, basically everything you don't want mixed in with your flowers.
So, that's what we did..

Once the flowerbed was rid of the junk you see in the photo above, it was time to start digging and planting. Here are the before and after pictures:

What a difference huh? To say that I am thrilled and excited about the new flowerbed would be a huge understatement. There is still more work to be done (especially growing grass!) but we're off to an amazing start. When more additions are made to the area, we'll definitely be posting about them!

Happy Saturday!

We've got a busy weekend ahead and kicking it off this morning with our first 5K walk of the season, the Hospice Hope Run. Yes, we've been running and trying to get our bodies physically ready to run a 5K but we just aren't quite there yet so until we are, we have a couple of 5K's you'll hear us talking about. Trust me, when it's time for our first running 5K, you'll know it! :) After the Hope Run today, we've got a family fun day we're going to at a friend's Church and then the Dash Baseball game tonight. We're looking forward to the day filled with family and friends and you better believe we'll be bloggin'! Have a great day, followers!

Behind the Lens: Easter 2012

The hunt is over!

Great news! After a good month or so of looking for a full time job and doing part time work, Kasey has to look no more! He's had some interviews here and there and yesterday he had one with a company who told him they had another interview to do and that he would hear something within the next couple of days. Not even a few hours passed and he had already heard from them and was given an offer which he took. I'm so proud of him and am excited to announce that he starts on Friday. He went in to Best Buy where he's been working part time and worked it out to where he can keep some hours there as well. So I know, I've been talking about his new job but I haven't said what he's going to be doing.. He's an Assistant Project Manager for Allen Industries. Can you guys tell how excited and proud of him I am? :) -Hollie

Long Overdue!

I haven't ever been one of those women who go to the salon on the regular. As a matter of fact, ever since Laekyn has been born, I've only gone maybe twice in an entire year. I've made a promise to myself to change that, keep a hairstyle up and take some time for me every so often. After all, we all deserve it. We're always trying to do and do for others but rarely take time to pamper ourselves. Well, that's changing for me! I finally got my tail back in the salon yesterday after a long year. Yes, I said year! It had been that long since I had gone to get my hair done.

When I went last April, I got the inverted bob. The back was shorter than the front and I absolutely loved it. However, I didn't keep it up and as it grew the front remained longer than the back. It had gotten to be a hassle, it was stringy and just got to where I always wanted to wear it up or if I wore it down, I always felt I had to pull some up in the middle just so it looked semi-decent. Which it didn't tend to do, often. Ha. I had really let it go.

So yeah, back to Wednesday.. I had an appointment for after work and I just knew I'd be done in time for Church but boy was I wrong! I was in there for almost 3 hours. My hair was a mess! It isn't anymore though :) I got highlights and a cut and cannot wait to go back in 4 weeks for my trim. Yes, I already booked my appointment so I would stick to it! Check it out:

My Fitness Pal

We are just so addicted to this app and lifestyle change that we had to take some time and share about it. A few weeks ago, a friend mentioned an app to me called My Fitness Pal where you could track your food and exercise on. Accountability is so huge for me and is what really ends up making the biggest difference in my weight loss journey so I thought I'd give it a try. The most I had lost and kept off since having Laekyn (5.5 years ago which I gained over 50 pounds!) has been 16 pounds and I did that with Weight Watchers at least 6 months ago. I absolutely loved the program and it really worked for me but I just didn't want to pay to participate in the program any longer. My Fitness Pal really reminds me of Weight Watchers as far as tracking and planning goes which like I said, is what helps me the most. I've been using the app (which is free by the way, I should've mentioned that earlier) for 2 weeks and have lost a total of 8 pounds! I'm eating what I want to and just trying my best each day to stick to my daily target. Well, after I was having such success with the app, Kasey wanted to give it a try. The app on his phone doesn't work half the time so he does most of his logging on the actual computer. Either way, we both love it and recommend it. If you do decide to use it, feel free to add us: LaekynsMommy & kaseymont!

Weekend Recap!

So we know that we've mentioned on more than one occasion that we've been really busy so what better way to share some our busyness than with a blog post! This past weekend seems like a great place to start, Saturday particularly. Let's see.. the morning started off with us going to our Church for an Easter egg hunt. The morning started off rainy but the egg hunt was still a-go! Once we got to the Church, we couldn't believe what we saw..

The ENTIRE Church was covered with candy-filled eggs. By the time the egg hunt was, the rain and stopped and eggs even lined the brick and windowsills outside. Laekyn hadn't seen so many eggs at one egg hunt in her life! We were sectioned off by child's age/grade and dispersed throughout the Church as our 'starting point' and that's all she wrote.
After the egg hunt at Church, we decided to go eat some lunch. A Saturday lunch isn't the same without dessert afterwards so we tried the new (and delicious might I add) Sweet Frog in Clemmons. If you're a fan of Frogurt then I highly recommend it. There are so many more choices of frozen yogurt and sorbet than what Frogurt offers. This is coming from someone who didn't ever expect to find a place better than Frogurt! Once our bellies were full, we went to the mall. Our original reasoning for going there was to stock back up on Bath & Body Works products. However, little did we know.. that was going to be just a tad reason of why we were there. It turned into a Build A Bear Workshop kinda day and well of course, the princess had to make her a new bunny for Easter..

She picked out the flower-print bunny as you can see. Instead of wanting an outfit for it, she picked out this backpack that she can carry her BAB's in. Honestly, I was very proud because it seemed like a great purchase and she looked incredible cute walking around with her BAB on her back. Once we got out of BABW, we of course had to make a stop by the carousel. No trip to the mall with miss priss is complete without a ride on it! She choose to ride in the spinning teacup with a few other kids who were already on it.
After the mall, we decided to stop by one of our favorite parks before going to eat dinner. Yes, it was already almost time for dinner. We literally had the entire park to ourselves, it was too much fun!!

After miss priss was worn out at the playground, we decided to go eat some dinner. We don't eat out during the week so to say were were stoked about dining out would also be an understatement. We decided to go to Applebee's and boy was it delicious! After we ate dinner, we rode out to Thomasville to visit with my dad's side of the family. Went on a walk through their old neighborhood and just simply enjoyed the time with family.

Overall, it was a busy but amazing day. We spent lots of good quality time together and that's what made it so special. We sure do love when we have an entire day to do so. Hope your weekend was just as fun!

Hanging Rock

There is something amazing about standing on top of a mountain, gazing out over Danbury, NC and just feeling the force of the wind against you. The sight when you look down and realize that if you were to slip and fall, there would be minimal chance of survival. All of this can be experienced at Hanging Rock State Park. If you haven't been, I recomend you change that! It's one of my favorite places. There are more than a few trails you can choose to go on and if you have time, do more than one! Personally, I've only been on the main one to Hanging Rock and the trail down to Window Falls and Hidden Falls. This past week we packed a picnic and spent the afternoon there, here are some pictures from our visit.
